WeRunTickets
Multi-tenant ticketing SaaS for event organisers who've outgrown spreadsheets and PayPal links.
What it is
A ticketing platform for organisers who need more than “email me for tickets” but don’t want an enterprise system built for stadiums. Sell tickets, take payments, manage the guest list, handle refunds, scan people in on the door.
Why it exists
Most small and mid-sized event organisers outgrow informal ticketing fast, but the next step up is usually priced and built for someone running arenas, not a promoter running a night at a 200-capacity venue. WeRunTickets sits in that gap: proper payment handling and reporting without the overhead.
Pricing is flat and upfront. No percentage cut, no discovery marketplace taking a slice, no messing about. A flat fee per paid ticket that the organiser can absorb or pass on, and nothing at all for free events.
What the work looks like
- Stripe Connect handling payouts directly to organisers, with a gross-up formula so the fees land where they’re supposed to
- A microsite builder (Livewire, block-based) so each organiser gets a branded public event page on their own subdomain, without touching code
- Multi-organisation support, so someone running events under a few different names isn’t stuck with one account per brand
- A refund flow organisers can trigger themselves through the dashboard rather than emailing support
- A PWA for door staff to scan tickets on check-in, built instead of native apps because nobody wants to fight an app store review process for an internal tool
Technical decisions
- Laravel throughout, with the underlying data model still called
Organisationeven though the product now talks about “Storefronts” - Boring, well-tested patterns anywhere money or inventory is involved. This is not the place for clever
- White-label branding done through CSS variable injection rather than per-tenant theme forking, so one codebase serves every organiser
- Config-driven multi-brand setup: the same codebase can run as more than one public-facing brand from separate deployments, rather than maintaining forked repos
Status
Live and being used by real organisers. Started life under a different working name (TicketFizz) before settling on WeRunTickets. Still actively worked on, including an admin interface tidy-up after a few rounds of bolted-on features left it messier than it should be.
